A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his initial trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult period, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in specific - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-term coach his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is his initial title since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt after spring of that year.

The win also means Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the first title I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular reactions on court had prompted some to question if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.

However the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an better serve.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Moutet, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden professional victory, seized the initiative to create a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 early chances in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
